OUR STORY

Power Cheer began as Woodmen Power Cheer in 2021 with just one team and a big dream.

Our founder, Emme Lee, set out to build something different for South Side families—a cheer program that removed financial barriers and made the sport accessible to any athlete who wanted to be part of it.

What started as a single team quickly grew into something more. With the support of dedicated volunteers and families who believed in the vision, Power Cheer expanded to multiple teams and built a strong, connected community—what we proudly call our Mafia family.

In April 2024, that community made something incredible happen.

Through the hard work and heart of our volunteers, we opened the doors to our very own gym. This milestone allowed us to grow even further, welcoming athletes from over six school districts and creating a space our athletes could truly call home.

As we’ve grown, so has our identity. We became simply Power Cheer—a name that reflects the unity, strength, and heart of our entire program.

Now operating as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Power Cheer continues to thrive. Our teams have achieved major milestones, including multiple teams earning bids to The Summit—an incredible accomplishment that reflects the dedication of our athletes, coaches, and families.

And now, we are stepping into our next chapter.

Power Cheer is entering our All-Star era.

While our structure is evolving, our heart remains the same. We are still committed to being a program built for families—one that focuses on confidence, growth, opportunity, and belonging.

At Power Cheer, it has always been more than just cheer.

It’s a place where athletes find their people, build lifelong memories, and become part of something bigger than themselves.

Because around here…

It’s more than a team — it’s a family.
